CRMC's main Harris campus is a 218-bed facility with 64 skilled nursing care beds. CRMC's Grover M. Hermann Hospital (Callicoon campus) is a 15-bed facility with 10 beds that can be used for either acute care or skilled nursing care. Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse will be responsible for implementing the Nursing Process based on established Standards of Practice and ensuring all patient care policies and procedures are adhered to in accordance with CRMC Hospital policies, the Nurse Practice Act, and the New York State Licensure requirements. The registered nurse will be able to exhibit critical thinking, effectively organize/prioritize accordingly, and implement evidence based nursing.
Admits/transfers/discharges patients within or to a health care facility following the hospital's policy and procedure.
Initiates and coordinates patient/family/significant other teaching utilizing age appropriate instructions and teaching tools to reinforce areas of knowledge deficit.
Delegates, supervises, and assesses appropriate aspects of patient care to qualified assistive personnel (LPN, NA, PCT, US)
Monitors the patient for untoward reactions to medication and initiates and documents corrective actions.
Uses the nursing process in assessing patient's needs, identifying problems, planning and implementing interventions, delegating activities appropriately, evaluating the effectiveness of the care given, and adjusting the plan accordingly
Assesses for pain, initiates a plan of care and manages patients in pain. Documents pain utilizing approved pain rating scale. Educates patient/family/significant other about pain management.
Accesses and maintains Intravenous Therapy, both peripheral and central, according to policy and procedure.
Manage and monitor patient receiving epidural or patient controlled analgesia
Demonstrates knowledge of criteria to identify victims of abuse and neglect and knowledge of how to treat victims, report abuse, and refer to appropriate agency.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Currently licensed and registered in NY State to practice as a registered professional nurse.Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.Maintains all required certifications for the areas assigned.Successful completion of BLS Provider Course.
Experience/Special Qualifications for Obstetrics
One to two years medical/surgical experience in acute care setting preferred.
Neonatal Resuscitation Certificate within 6 months of hire.
Basic Fetal Monitoring within 6 months of hire.
AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification within 3 years preferred.
RNC, RN or Obstetrical Nursing Certification preferred.
Successful completion of ACLS Provider Course within 6 months of hire.
